Added another question to the study guide.. something we talked about in class: with John Szarkowski's "Mirror and Windows" exhibition, what was a mirror style photographer and what was a window style photographer?
(Hint: Minor White was mirror and Robert Frank was window)

Lectures:
The un-Americans
Photography and the Media
I'm not including the image manipulation one because it's too large.. and there wasn't a lot of 'text' ... I think one of the main things was the set of ethics for photojournalists, which you can find here.

Sharing our own photos
Hey folks.. we'll use Thursday February 16th to show off some photos we have taken.
This is optional.. but I would encourage you to do it! This isn't to judge how good a photographer you are but just a fun way to show off some of our favorite photos.
I would suggest either making a Powerpoint slideshow (and bring on USB) or a Google Docs slideshow (there is a presentation program in Google Docs — the nice thing I like about this is you don't have to worry about bringing it on a disk.. just sign into Google).
Either way, you can resize the images if you like. The highest resolution the projector goes is 1280x1024.
If you don't like either of those options you can throw the images into a folder and share it that way, but it might not be quite as organized.
Please email me if you are interested in sharing!
(I'll update this post if I think of anything else)

Lecture 3 slides
Lecture 4 slides
Again sorry the file sizes are so big. You should be able to click on the "Download" button in the top right area. It might warn you that it can't scan it for viruses but you can download it anyway (I promise it is clean!).

Lecture #2 slides. Note that the file is too big to view in Google Docs so you'll have to download the PDF and view on your own computer.

Hey folks.... couple quick notes.
We talked about possibly sharing some photos that we have taken with the rest of the class, which I think is a good idea. If you want to put together a little slideshow of your work, go for it. I might recommend using Google Docs and its presentation program. That way you don't have to worry about putting it on a USB drive.
ALSO, Tuesday at the start of class we'll try to make a camera obscura. So if you are late, look for us in the photography classroom digital dark room (3W-19 I believe). (When you enter 3W and go past the dinosaur, take a left down the hallway and you'll find the main photography room... go in and wind your way to the back).
